“May you journey to the depths of your heart and remember all that you are”.

    Q. What is Ceremonial Cacao?

    A. Ceremonial cacao is a high-quality, raw, and unprocessed form of cacao that has been used for centuries in sacred rituals and ceremonies. It is made from pure cacao beans. It is what we know as “100% chocolate”, without anything added.

    Q. What is the difference between ceremonial cacao and cacao powder?

    A. Cacao powder has gone through another step of processing where they remove the “cacao butter” which alters the effects of what the cacao offers when consumed whole. Ceremonial Cacao has a more silky & smooth texture to consume and contains both cacao butter & what would be “cacao powder” if further processed.

    Q. What are the nutritional benefits of Ceremonial Cacao?

    A. Ceremonial Cacao contains essential minerals including iron, magnesium, zinc, copper, chromium, potassium, manganese, calcium, selenium. Ceremonial Cacao contains polyphenols that act as highly effective antioxidants such as catechin, epicatechin & quercetin. Ceremonial Cacao has 3 bioactive & euphoric compounds, Theobromine, Anandamide & Phenylethylamine (PEA), as well as Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOI’s) which extend the release of feel good chemicals. Ceremonial Cacao is low in caffeine, containing approximately 1.9mg/g; a 20g serve contains roughly the same amount of caffeine as a strong cup of tea. Ceremonial Cacao also contains trace amounts of vitamins: A, E, K1, B1, B2, B3, B5, B6 and B9. Now you know why the Ancient Mayans revered cacao and called it “food of the gods”, it’s pretty extraordinary!

    Q. How does Ceremonial Cacao make you feel?

    A. Ceremonial Cacao contains natural compounds like theobromine, which can provide a gentle energy lift and a sense of mental clarity. It can also promote relaxation, a feeling of well-being, and heightened focus during meditation or introspective practices.

    Q. How do I make a cup of Ceremonial Cacao?

    A. You melt the cacao in a pot on the stove with water, but not boiling, to preserve its nutritional properties. You can also add your favourite milk, natural sweetener of choice & some spices for an extra hit if you like. When your cacao is ready, pour into your mug, take a deep breath & enjoy… or conduct your own at home ceremony!

    Q. How can I conduct an at-home Cacao Ceremony?

    A. Start by setting an intention for your practice. Prepare a cup of cacao, sit in a quiet space, perhaps light a candle, burn some incense, & play some gentle music. Sip the cacao mindfully, allowing it to deepen your connection with yourself and your heart. Drop into what wants to happen from here, perhaps journal, sing, dance, or stay in meditation. You can always listen to our cacao ceremony meditation for further guidance.

    Q. Why is Ceremonial Cacao considered better than coffee?

    A. Unlike coffee, ceremonial cacao provides a more balanced and sustained energy boost without the jitters or crash often associated with caffeine. It offers a smoother, more focused mental state without interfering with sleep patterns.

    Q. Can anyone consume Ceremonial Cacao?

    A. We say mostly, yes! However, it is important to note that cacao contains a mild stimulant called theobromine, which can affect individuals differently. If you are sensitive to stimulants, or are taking medications, it's advisable to consult with a healthcare professional before consuming Ceremonial Cacao.

     Q. Where does your Ceremonial Cacao come from?

    A. Our ceremonial cacao is sourced from the Amazon Jungle, in Peru.

    Q. Is Ceremonial Cacao organic and ethically sourced?

    A. Not all ceremonial cacao is organic or ethically sourced, but of course ours is! It is of our highest intentions to ensure we are working in harmony with our planet in all ways & giving back to those who are supporting us to have this incredible superfood.

    Q. How should I store Ceremonial Cacao?

    A. To maintain its freshness and quality, Ceremonial Cacao should be stored in a cool, dark, and dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Properly stored, it can have a long shelf life of up to 5 years or more, although we doubt it will last in your cupboard that long without you using it!

    Q. Why is organic and ethical sourcing of cacao important?

    A. Organic and ethical sourcing ensures that the cacao used in ceremonial preparations is cultivated without the use of harmful pesticides or chemicals. Ethical sourcing supports fair trade practices, protecting the rights and well-being of farmers and preserving the environment. These are of utmost importance to us and you can feel the difference when any product hasn’t been ethically sourced, it changes the spiritual properties of the cacao.
